Future Packaging – Technologien, Produkte, Visionen
Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg – Lehrstuhl FAPS
The Institute of Manufacturing Automation and Production Systems (FAPS), led by Prof. Jörg Franke, investigates new production processes for micro- and macro mechatronics in close collaboration with technology suppliers and users. Additionally, the institute also develops solutions for current challenges in electronics production. Key aspects of research include miniaturization, functional integration of mechatronic systems, strict zero-defect manufacturing, and increasing productivity.
Apart from the entire process chain for electronic production, alternative equipment for production and accompanying quality management for mechatronic systems is available at the laboratory in Nuremberg. In addition to printed circuit boards, research focuses on new fields of microsystem technology. Examples are printable electronics, power electronics and molded interconnect devices. Furthermore, FAPS has expertise in the qualification of long-time reliability of mechatronic systems, including under various load spectrums.
