Rommel GmbH at the Future Packaging Production Line

Rommel solutions automate and revolutionize the SMT industry. Thanks to the sophisticated modular construction, Rommel solutions can be combined with any process modules. One example is the production line “Future Packaging” at SMT 2011. Rommel provided the majority of the modules of this line, from the input (of stackers) and all transfer stations to the output (in magazines). With the labeling- and laser maring station and several scan stations, modern marking and traceability solutions were additionally integrated into the line.

The labeling and the CO2 laser solution use either a connection to a database or an integrated code generator to ensure the traceability of the products. The scan station reads existing marks on the boards and transfers them to the subsequent process modules or, if necessary, to a database for automatic process control. The conveyor modules have an inspection conveyer, which lifts the boards up slightly to enable good/bad sorting after a test module or the issue of boards according to defined intervals.

A particular highlight is our special Rommel passage module. Due to the machine's length, getting to the individual process stations when technical problems occur takes a long time, especially at the rear side of the line. Our passage module - located approximately in the middle of the line - can retract its transport unit and opens a passage right through the production line. This saves both time and money.
